It seems as though there are a few sizes coming out.  I'm personally most interested in the 10" machines. A 10" LED backlit lcd display rocking 1024x600 res with one of those new atom cpu's just sounds so badass!  Small enough to be hard to the core, but big enough to be able to enjoy websites without so much horizontal scrolling.  Granted, most of the 8.9" screens are also 1024x600, i think 10" is the money ticket.

After reading everything i have, I will be leaning more towards the MSI Wind or Acer Aspire One OVER the Dell E.  Who knows.  I need a new pc.  My shuttle box is getting closer to needing a replacement and i dont get on a pc at home nearly as much as i used to, so i feel one of these little bad boys will be more than plenty...  I hope they start hitting shelves soon.  B-Day coming up next month!

That thing is totally unimpressive.  What's it got on the Aspire One?  1 more battery cell?  It's more expensive with less storage too.

I'm glad I pulled the trigger on the Lenovo S10 day one when it was announced.  On launch day the thing was going for ~$350 for the 10" screen, 80GB hard drive, XP Home, 512MB RAM, Media Reader, and Expresscard Slot.  The only bad thing going for it was that it had only 2 USB ports.

I saw the S10 as well. I couldn't get myself to pull the trigger without someone actually already owning one.

I think I'm going to settle on an older XPS m1210 or 700/710m. At 12.1", it's not that much heavier but it's leaps in terms of power.

i don't suppose anyone knows if any of the "netbooks" do 1680x1050? i never could get my eee to do that, which kind of sucked

Do you mean to an external monitor?  HP's netbook has the highest res of 1280x768 on it's screen and that's the highest res one at the moment.

A 12.1" notebook is a little less than twice the weight of the lightest netbooks.  If I didn't already have a 15" notebook then I'd probably be looking in the 12.1" or 13.3" department for the decent performance / portability.  I really only want the netbook to travel with though like my upcoming 3 week vacation.  The netbook + power supply is smaller and lighter than most 12.1" notebooks alone.  But then that's why choice is good right.  Thank you Asus for creating this category of computer.

After reading info on similar laptops - These things are nice for what they are, but they are not very impressive.  These are still 1st gen in this form factor...

Ive heard rumors that a new dual core Atom is on its way out.  This single core Atom is definitely very nice for the size, but the laptop configs are still pretty weak...  I would like to see these little bad boys with atleast 2gigs ram and some larger ssd's.
