Max Payne.
The game that was hyped too no end, actually, comes pretty damn close to the hype.
The game is pretty damn good. Here's my breakdown:
Story: Well thought out. Makes you understand just what the hell you're there for.
Levels: If it weren't for a few jumping puzzle-type levels, the level design was very good. A kind of short game, but the New York Minute option of the game is original.
Sound: There's gunshots, groans, grunts, footsteps, bad guys yapping, and gunshots. What more do you want? Positional audio works good too.
Video: Awesome. With my GF3, and everything cranked to MAX, the game looks beautiful. From the shell casings flying to the little blood drops flying off a bad guy I just blew apart, the details are extreme.
Control: Same A,W,S,D movement, mouse aim/fire controls as in FPS. This though is a 3rd person game. A little hard to WALK in the game, but nothing extraordinary in controls.
Gameplay: Great! Love the "Bullet Time" function of the game. Once you get use to it, you'll use it ALOT. I'm pretty good at getting head shots with bullet time. Everything is smooth, and the game flows very well. Also, the enemies get harder as you get better. Expect more baddies as you get better.
Overall: I give this game an 8.5 outta 10. The 6MB patch dropped its overall score, and my ONE desktop crash didn't help either. It's a solid game, with little bugs (ie. desktop crash). I totally recommend this game to anyone who loves shooters, and anyone who loves 3rd person games with shooting. System requirements aren't too high, but to get a total experience, a good 32MB/64MB video card and fast processor 800+ is needed. For damn near 50 bucks, I for one, wasn't let down.
