Extra cd drive in windows
« on: December 07, 2003, 07:37:30 PM »

I have two cd drives and two harddrives all on ide in my computer.  They all work fine except I have an extra cdrom showing up in my computer and i can;'t figure out what it is from.
I have a Asus 52x reader and a liteon 32x burner
This last cd shows up as Generic DVD-rom SCSI cdrom device.

Does anyone know where this drive came from.  I probably could get rid of it easily but I want to know what it is from.  It doesnt show under linux so I think it is just windows and i didnt hve it last time I forgmatted.  The only thing I can think of is I installed Daemon Tools.   Does anyone know if daemon tools would do it?  I had to use daemon tools to restore an image of something but I dont use it anymore could it be from that?

Nero creates imagedrives and adds it as a logical CD rom.  Most likely it is a nero image drive or another companies image drive. No big deal

if you want, daemon tools can do an extra 3 on top of that so you could have 4 from daemon tools alone...

if you were desperate you could download clonecd which can do 8.  If you also used the latest nero imagedrive you could have a grand total of 14 virtual cd drives...

that'd make 17 for me in total (14 virt + 3 real)
