concensus for best p4-800MHz board?
« on: August 10, 2003, 01:03:13 PM »

I searched for this but didn't come up with anything useful...

So the AMD camp has the 8RDA+ that everyone always recommends.

Is there a similar concensus for a board for the P4C camp?  Is 875 worth getting over 865?  even if you get the ASUS or MSI ones that have the PAT workaround?

I just picked up a P4-2.8C for a good price and it doesn't seem to like to run in my p4s8x, underclocked to 1866MHz...  Even though it should work fine...

any ideas?

P4P800 Deluxe or P4C800 Deluxe... the P4P is cheaper, but its Springdale and doesnt have the extra SATA ports of the P4C, the P4C is Canterwood and has more features, but is more expensive.

well in life there are 3 kinds of people people who have read about a board but never used one  then there are those who have used a board and can tell you how it runs then there is the last group who lie about it

I use the msi neo2 that can be found here http://www.msicomputer.com/msiforms/865PENEO2.asp
and I have had no problems with it

I have a P4P800 Deluxe (Springdale).
I don't use SATA H/Ds, so it wasn't a concern...plus, the RAID capability for both IDE & SATA was nice.
It O/Cs really nice, and had enough features for me, that I liked (incl. PAT).

The MSI NEO2 was my 2nd choice, along with ABIT IC7 (Springdale version).

As for Canterwood/Springdale...Unless you absolutely need "top of the line", go Springdale...it's cheaper, but with a few tweaks, you can make it as fast as a Canterwood...

**edit**

The P4P800 Deluxe does have the SATA connectors, it is the P4P800 non-Deluxe that does not have the SATA connectors...

I have the gigabyte ga-8knxp and it is very nice. Has everything you could possibly need on it and got excelent reviews from everywhere I've seen. It's expensive, but worth it in my opinion.
