Sorry I am a major newb,

I am having the same problem, but I dont really understand how the heat sink is supposed to fit. Could some one explain?

Yep we have all done that more than once im sure ....dont sweat it at least you checked if before you just let it boot up and start to smoke ....Heck last year on tech tv one guy broke two 1gig proc. because he but them on wrong lol so dont feel bad :)
