This is just a stupid idea but would putting a picture or something under the glass help an optical mouse track better on the icemat?

tried that already, doesn't seem to have any affect. Great for ball mouse users, kinda jerky for opticals

The black icemat was tested with an optical intelimouse and was said to work.

so if u had an optical mouse probably would be best to get the black one

Has anyone tested that exact blue logitech mouse with the BLACK Icemat instead of transparent? My gues is it would work better on the black one because of the sensor that can't get the light through the icemat while the transparent is ...well, transparent and CAN get through the icemat. Conclusion, the sensor doesn't absorb all the light that is reflected by the icemat which is needed to calculate it's positions. So most light get's somewhere else... man weird story..
