I got a original Ideal. Will it work?
« on: October 06, 2002, 08:31:00 AM »

OK I just bought a new Zalman CNPS-3100 Plus from directron http://store.yahoo.com/directron/cnps3100.html
Here my ideal. Isntead of mounting it how its supposed to mount (the edges of the fins horizontal and the fan in front of them) I want to mount it sideways. My ideal is that If the edges of the fins are vertical and I bend the fan mount bracket to put the fan underneath pointing up toward my power supply then my hot air would exhuast better tthrough my top blowhole. I think this new arrangement might even work better than the suggested way. But are the mounting holes around the proc. perfectly square? Will I be able to mount this cooler sideways?.  I could just look and see but then Id have to move my heatsink. Im lazy. Does anyone know?

Hmm.. I do not think it will work because of the way it mounts. But I guess you will find out when you get it. It makes sense to mount it that way, but it all depends if it can be moved to fit.
