Case Antec File Server 1080 mwave $145.00

should be

About the unlimited series....if Im not mistaken Tyan has dropped all support for that board which uses a Mp chipset and not the MPX...I had it and trust me..it wasnt really all that great..but then again I only had dual 1.2ghz MPs..I would probably go with a better board other than that looks nice...

tyan has been around a long time, and many of the other manufacturers don't make non xeon dual boards for p4's or the MP athlons, thats why i picked tyan. That and the onboard Adaptec U160 scsi controller.  thx for the info though :) thats what the system builder section is for.

Decided to limit the unlimited system?!

Aint the whole point of the unlimited to dream about things none of us could afford? Or would that be a 4th one, the "Dream System"?

Antacus, well yes and no, cause i could of put a 1million dollar IBM CMOS server or some 50 terabyte file server.  Next time we do this, 3 weeks from now, i think I might change it to 3500 cap or something.  Part of the problem is everyone likes differant everything. btw in the article its called special purpose btw

Btw how many people here besides people my age with full time jobs are gonna spend $4000 that the last system costs.  Maybe what we should work out is a special system of the month and have the forum membership vote on the type.  But outside of a file server or a graphics workstations everthing else can fall into a lower end system.

If you get into Dream machines, I would want a Matrox Pahrelia and 3 23" viewsonic lcds, but that is 10k just for the monitors and vid card. Fibre Channel drives which are outrageous, phase change cooling and we are looking at 25k for a system.

I got my whole system for 508$$ (See below) all from newegg.com, but it dosen't count because I didn't need to buy monitor, keyboard etc... but I still think i did rather well. Thanks to the forumers that help me decide on parts!
