What should I do?
« on: September 21, 2002, 06:18:00 PM »

I have a directron aluminum case, just this past month, I have decided to paint it.  What im not shure is whether I really need to use primer, sand, and all that since its not really "metal" as you can feel it's much lighter and stuff.

The case is here:

I have krylon interior-exterior paint.
What should I do, just spray it on or do i need to sand it and prime?

ummm last time i checked, aluminum is a metal. you will need to sand (using wet sandpaper with 600 or highter grit paper) prime(something thats wet sandable is always nice. keeps the dust down) and paint for best results. rustolem fast drying primer is the best primer ive evr used. dries to sandable in 30 mins and is wet sandable. good luck and im really not sure why ur painting aluminum. but what evr rocks ur boat. as for paint, i have no idea. best is an automotive paint. usually metalic and comes in ur favorite car's color!!! good luck.
