Gid, I have that same LCD but i have the 171v...a 17" version and it roxors.  I just moved in to college and am using it to play DVD's and all my games.  It has a great viewing angle, the colors are vibrant, and the menus are easy too.  All in all a good monitor...and awesome review.

I know most LCDS aren't good for games, but how is this one? I don't want like amazing flawless graphics, but is it as good as my Pionex Elite huge moniter?  I'm sure it doesn't make games worse, or is it like alot of ppl say and make the games look horrible.

this one actually is not as sharp as it can be. if u are a serious gamer, i'd suggest going with one of their higher end models.

this one was meant purely for value.

wow, thanks for the fast response....I'm not a SERIOUS gamer. I'm a casual gamer i guess.  I play some games every now and then.  Mostly online stuff like DoD or CS...Currently I'm play Mafia, which is rare since I normally don't play single player PC games.  But how would it be for like CS or DoD?

Have had the 151v for a couple of weeks and am quite satisfied. My first LCD, so still getting used to the differences from a CRT.

Gaming has been OK.. no ghosting that I can make out. NASCAR Racing 2002 looks great. Display is rather bright even with the controls set to low, so (jet) black is basically non-existant. Colors in Quake III look slightly washed out, but definately playable. Standard fair for LCDs I figure.

Also use it for video capture. Better because I don't have to fiddle with the controls like I did on the CRT. Pictures look great too.

Only problem I've had is the 'Auto' feature doesn't align things properly after trying a 'Geometry Reset'. Don't know what happpened, it was working fine before ?? Have to do it manualy now. (pain in the butt. Fine/Coarse is 70/1347 if anyone needs to know)

I was browsing the internet and happened upon this fine looking site. This thread about the 151v caught my eye b/c I have revently ordered the Samsung 171v and would like to know how the picture looks. I saw that DarkBacon has the 171v and plays games on it as well. Could you possibly give me your opinion on how the monitor performs while playing DVDs and games?  I generally play games like Counter-Strike and Half Life. Thank you very much for any information or opinions you can share with me. Good day to you all.

the 171v is similar to the 151v, minus the extra 2 inches.

I know, but have you used it for fast paced gaming, DVD's, etc? I read your review of the 151v and it was very insightful with regard to text and still graphics.

I'm just wondering if any ghosting shows up, if the image ever looks slowed, and how the colors appear while gaming or viewing video footage. Since the 151v and 171v use Twisted Nematic Display types, I know the refesh rates are not as quick as some higher end models using MVA/PVA displays. I would like to hear an a few opinions on how the 171v or 151v(same tech, internals, just smaller size, like you said) work with quick moving actions, like games and DVD's. Thanks a lot for any info.
