hmm... desoldering braid not working, the only time that's happened to me was when i forgot to cut the old stuff off or my iron wasn't hot enough. oh well.

That's a bit of the downside with desoldering braids.  cutting the used tips off is kind of a waste.  But those small rolls from radioshack is about 5 feet long and you use about half a centimeter when you desolder one lead off a pcb.

Yes my iron was hot enough and Yes I did cut the used portion of the braid. It was the first time nothing worked for me. Very odd. Must be the type of soder they used. I donno.

I used a plunger type solder sucker, went off flawlessly. It helps to have someone else with pair of needlenose or hemostats pull on the body of the LED while you heat up the PCB side. Pops right out. Thanks for the mod tip, it looks pretty sporty....

They are massive - as I can't get em in UK yet - I have been using SMD leds 1/3 the size

I am probably going to go ahead with the red thing... but if I go through LEDTronics, I have to buy 26 of them... Does anyone else want some or is there another place that sells these little buggers?
