Much like Illusion, I'm going for the silent option, so Deltas are never in my cooling vocabulary.  I'm just hoping for load temps that don't go above, maybe 48C, and worse, 50C.

exactly :) but ill see if i can create a good airflow so the temps can drop down

sounds like a very nice heatsink for you illusion, ive been looking at one.
i figure a duron1000 isnt a major heater, and with a couple low speed panaflos i should be able to keep it nice and cool.

illah?! what you smoking?!

on zalman's page it says that the CNPS6000Cu will even work with t-birds! Which are hotter than xp's!

so illusion, it'll work fine, but since it's mostly passive cooling, don't expect extraordinarily low temps.

Zalman's coolers are overpriced for their cooling ability(which is not so impressive). Avg 52-56 under norm(50% or under cpu usage)deg C which is "OK" and ya, it will work, but is only comparative to a $10 heatsink. So, if you are serious about cooling and tired of BS'ing with "OK" coolers check out these links and add about $10 to the price of the Zalman and you will be impressed.

Swifttech solid copper base MCX462 is the way to go...Unless you want to water cool, but that is in a totally different price range of course. And,on a side note, the MCX462 is made in the good ol' USA so your hard earned money stays at home instead of funneling to  Korea(off topic I know...but an added bonus I think!!!) Oh...and I wan't a hit of whatever illah is tokin on :) seems to  have cleared his thinking...

No.  Even on non-overclocking systems I wouldn't recommend a Zalman to AMD users.  If it was a P4 maybe, but not AMD.

Plus what do those things cost?  If I remember right it was like $40, for that money you could get a MUCH better heatsink.

What? ROTFL
Zalman is very good Cooler especially to the overclocked CPU :) It's quiet and poferful. Zalman is very good...

WTF are you talking about?  Zalman makes what is quite possibly the worst HSFs out there.  I would use a stock HSF on a overclocked CPU before I would use one of those Zalman chip burners...

The reviews I've seen have praised it for being quiet, but condemned it as certain thermal death for any high-speed CPU.
For a mid- to low-end system, it may be all you need provided you don't intend to overclock.
