part of it is my own stpuidity I guess....

the thermaltake 1845 northbridge cooler I just had delievered to me yesterday... the damn clipping spring wont seat right on my soyo P4I... I didnt find a foam cushion to replace the one under the soyo heatsink either with the rest of the package.

next question.. am I just too newb to know better, or does that damn thing really not fit easily?

as an aside... the ram coolers didnt fit on the dimms either. Shouldve read thisa forum before placing the order. The upshot is I have 2 40mm fans to figure out some project for....

everyone has to start somewhere dude
don't think ur to newbish if ur actually taking the risk.
I had the same problem, but i was putting a socket 7 heatsink on my chipset
if it don't work, epoxy it on, thats what i alwasy do!
go buy some Artic silver Epoxy.  Sure.. it won't come off again.. but why would u want to take of such a good cooler vs. the original?  u can't upgrade it anyways

the thing that had/has me worried is the lack of a foam shim on the thermaltake cooler. The default cooler has one, and seems to be glued on. After having read all the woes of people crushing the core of an athlon, I REALLY dont want to do that to the northbridge of a board I paid over $200 for. Bravery is fine, but putting a torch to my cash is rather stupid.
