My Pioneer DVD-120 ROM has stopped working.
Setup:
Windows XP SP3
ASUS P4PE Mobo
Samsung SH-S222A DVDRW on secondary master(jumper set to master, on top IDE plug)
Pioneer DVD-120 DVDROM on secondary slave(jumper set to slave, on bottom IDE plug)
Western Digital WDC1200JB 120 GB HD on primary master
I have two black plugs on my IDE cable. The top one is plugged into the samsung, bottom one is plugged into the pioneer.
Windows control panel doesn't seem to see the Pioneer drive on system hardware
Eject button doesn't work, LED is on, Right Click----->Eject in My Computer doesn't work either.
Bios auto detect seems to pick up the WDC HD and the Samsung DVDRW, but not the Pioneer. When I copy the same settings from the secondary master channel to the secondary slave channel for the DVDROM in bios and try to manual set the secondary slave, I get secondary slave fail error upon bootup prior to the windows splash screen.
I've attached the bios screen shots(taken with digicam, I don't think i can screenshot bios).
Is my bios detecting my dvdrom? It doesn't look like it.
Do i change the jumpers to cable select setting on both drives?
Or do i just bite the bullet and buy a new optical drive. This one has survived since 2003!
Maybe I'll upgrade to a bluray drive....
Thanks
Jeff
