help adding extra sata wd 1tb harddrive not working
« on: August 09, 2010, 07:42:47 PM »

Hey guys I just got a WD 1tb caviar green hard drive for some extra space and cant get it to work. I currently have a intel 80gig ssd as my primary but when I plug in my new drive it hangs at the windows boot screen and never gets past it. It recognizes it in the bios but just hangs after that... Any ideas...my MB is a asus p7p55d

To get it recognized in Windows go to the Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management.  In there select from the left panel Disk Management (it may be hidden under Storage).  If all is set up correctly, you'll likely see your drive in the bottom portion of the center panel.  You'll have to right click, Mark Partition As Active.

You may have to change the drive letter around to what you like and format as you like, but that'll get you what you want.
