Thermal Paste Removal
« on: August 06, 2009, 09:52:17 PM »

Ive got a CPU with some baked on paste, came out of a gateway. Alcohol doesnt even touch it, I was thinking to try a more concentrated form of it. I know I can torch it off the heatsink but any suggestions on the die? I dont want to use acetone or laquer thinner, paint stripper before I know I actually can use it. Any suggestions? This stuff is FULLY CURED.

Acetone free nail polish remover has worked for me in the past.

Goo Gone followed by a good swabbing of 99% rubbing alcohol.

I second the arctic silver stuff.  Works amazingly.
