It's been a while since I've done anything really mod-related...but I finally got bored and inventive enough to do something the other night so I figured I'd post it
I use a Sansa e270 MP3 player and happen to have an extra usb charging/sync cable. I also use a Logitech bluetooth speaker receiver and happen to have an extra usb extention cable that came along with it...so I figured what the hey! Let's make it into a dock.
here's what we looked like before doing anything to it:
the USB port cutout in the plastic was obviously not going to be wide enough, so I used a knife to widen it up a bit until the sansa plug was a snug fit (don't have any pics of this step unfortunately). Next up was resoldering the wires onto the connector after they got botched during disassembling the cable:
let's slap a little bit of superglue on the connector to keep it in place...then some hot glue to preserve the solder points and keep it from moving around too much. The superglue discolored the top just a smidge but it's nothing that a little bit of buffing can't fix. It's a fairly snug fit without the glue, but I'd rather be safe than have to open it up again to reset the connector.
all closed up. You can see the superglue around the edges...again, I need to buff it out.
I put a grommet in the back of the dock to keep the cable from being yanked and disconnecting anything...also to tidy it up a little bit.
looks promising! The mp3 player rests in the slot just fine
The final test...success! The player mounts, charges, and reads and writes just fine
