Mini Itx Briefcase
« on: January 28, 2009, 05:32:30 PM »

Hey everyone. I recently did a Matx briefcase mod but never got around to post any pics. I lent it to a "friend" and what do you know he killed it  :(. So i started thinking of making a new one but even smaller and hence the mini itx briefcase pc was born. Couldn't find a metal camera case anywhere in St.Lucia (once again my beautiful island has let me down  :() and ordering one would be too expensive (i'm always broke anyway ) so i decided to make my own.

Here are the parts:

MB:   Zotac mini itx 630i (bought with my friends's money)
CPU: Pentium D 3.0 ghz
HDD: 320Gb seagate
Mem: 2gb pc6400 Mushkin or 4Gb pc6400 G.Skill
Cdrom: None (really couldn't fit a normal one and slim one is way too expensive)
Psu: 300w (stolen from a dell)
Cooling: 2 intake fans, 1 exhaust, 2 exhaust vents

The black case with the nuclear logo is the original briefcase (when it was still working)

Ummm this may sound dumb but how do you upload the photos and have them at their full res instead of this thumbnail view?

Um is this handle i have on the side too big. I cant figure out how to open it without a handle. I searched high and low for a good handle this is all i found  :x :(.....i used magnetic catches to secure the door so some force is needed to open it.

Any ideas?

Any input is welcomed

I can clearly see the pics when i'm logged in but can't see them when i'm a guest.  :( ... Could anybody tell me what i'm doing wrong?

i don't use the built in galleries, but i would guess its that way by design

as for the handle i can think of a couple of ways to do it. one would be to use hinges and a latch rather than magnets. another way would be to attach a flat piece on the side panel that extends above the top panel so you can get leverage from that. it wouldnt have to be much, just something to grip.

looks good

another way could be to cut a small finger hole into the panel, then put a piece of metal underneath it to conceal, but attached with a spring. so it will be hidden until you poke your finger through. very nice case!
