Budget OC build
« on: August 27, 2008, 04:06:19 PM »

Budget OC build, its time for a new setup. I have about 500 to spend on a Mobo, CPU, Ram, and video card. Im going with water cooling so I need something that ill have a lot of room to play with. I need something thats gonna run most graphically demanding games well. My budget is sort of tight being that I have a project car in the drive way that needs my attention (evo).

LMK what you guys think is a good mobo/cpu /ram combo that would allow me to do what I want. If you could keep the cost under 350$ that would be great!

TY

IMO it'd be money much better spent on a $500 PC than a $350PC and $150 water cooling setup.  With a $350 you are going to get nothing but crap parts that won't be able to OC anyway.  Even with $500 on just PC parts I would not say that you will be running the most graphically demanding games well.  Your budget aim should probably be about $750 with air cooling.

$750 with WC or without?  I can recommend something very good now for <$750 without WC.

*EDIT*

This is what I put together real quick:
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=8736592&WishListTitle=For%20jmtx86

You could probably get a cheaper CPU, case, and hard drive.

Part I would definitely not change: power supply.

Oh, I don't know- $500 for a CPU, mobo, video and RAM?  You'll obviously want to spend most of that on a video card- easy- the $269 Radeon 4870 (currently even has a $20 rebate)

Asus P5K SE board for $79 (or ECS P35 board for $69 less a $15 rebate)

E7200 $119 potential OC to 3.8GHz at 1600FSB.

2GB of DDR2-800 RAM can be bought for $20 after rebate. can handle 1600FSB.

this'd be just over $500 without rebates, just under $500 with rebates.

Wow, commenting on the prices in a 1.5 year old thread. I hate to be this blunt but read the forum rules, learn grammar, and don't curse so much (I don't care about cursing but some people do).
