Clear Hdd enclosure
« on: November 25, 2007, 02:57:10 PM »

Hey guys itís been a while since I was on but Iíve been busy. I recently got an external HDD enclosure and at first it seemed ok but the lack of ventilation in it came back to haunt me. After a few days my HDD died on me due to heat. So I decided to make my own enclosure out of acrylic after being inspired by the one Dave did. It has a 120mm intake fan controlled by a switch because itís going to be running off the stock PSU, so Iíll only use it when I need it.

Nice looking and good job on it.

I have gotten a lot of USB external enclosures and none killed a HDD.

I've had them kill drives before. Usually it happens via power spikes or overheating, generally the latter.
