Need Advice
« on: September 23, 2007, 12:40:55 PM »

I'm trying to sell some old comps locally and I've not been getting much interest.  Anyone care to comment if the pricing seems in line?

comp #1
Pentium D 915 2.8GHz dual core
1GB RAM
DVD-RW
CD-RW
120GB hard drive
X1300 pro 128MB
Lian Li PC61 (I think)
500W ThermalTake PSU

problem: CD laser on DVDRW not working, only can read and write DVDs.  so you can't do direct disc to disc copies.

I'm asking $250 for that one

comp #2
Core 2 Duo 4400
1GB RAM
CDRW/DVD combo drive
80GB hard drive
enermax microatx case, 120mm exhaust
onboard everything (G33 chipset, so GMA3100, HD Audio, gigabit lan, etc)

I'm asking $200 for that one.

comp #3
AMD A64 X2 4200+
Asus A8R-MVP, crossfire capable
1GB RAM
DVD-RW
DVD-ROM
X1900XT 512MB
sound blaster live 5.1
Antec NeoHE 480W PSU
coolermaster centurion 532, black, 2 120mm fans
fan controller

I'm asking $400 for that one.

To me, those are good values, as they are more capable for their class of machine than anything you could buy at BB or Fry's or something.  I tried to price them a little better than what someone could build a similarly capable system for, if they had the capability to build, which imho, is not that common.  Maybe people don't place the same value in things I like, like the aluminum Lian Li case, which I think is worth some small premium...

Should I mention installed software?  there are licensing issues but they aren't trials and pass validation, so they are immediately usable and won't expire.  I think I can even create some restoration procedures.

Any thoughts?

Laying temporary dibs on #2.  What case is it?  What PSU does it have?  What available slots are there?

*EDIT*

Oh yea.  And I think licensing wise you should probably wipe them all clean.

I'm honestly looking for opinions on pricing but I'm not opposed to selling them to GTF members if you're interested.  It's just tough to ship.

It's an enermax
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811124127
but without an OEM psu.

The PSU in there currently is a Antec True 430.  it's using just the 20pin, which seems to work fine since it's not powering a discrete video card.  I should probably try to find a 20-24pin adapter though.  Actually, the e4400 is in route to me now.  I set it up using my e6850.  So it's not technically available for maybe a week or so.  And I still have to test the proc since it's not new.

the mobo is an ECS G33T-M2, so 2 available SATA (no IDE), I used one each for the combo drive and the hard drive already.  PCI-E and 2 PCI slots also.

I actually have the original box for the case so that one machine is uniquely shippable.

Oh, and any ideas for people that want to test it out but can't use linux would be welcome.

I would pay that price that you named for all of them.  Just the one entices me more.  I'm still interested even with shipping if you are willing.

You don't happen to live in NC do you? That'd be overly convenient.

I'd hit those, but I already have 3 computers and no money, so I'm good.

If you really want it, I'll let you know as soon as I get the proc and test it all out to make sure it's good.
