'86 blazer build
« on: August 22, 2007, 11:06:39 AM »

I have a tread going on the truck forum i'm a member of but figured i would put one on gt aswell. The truck is a 1986 Chevrolet s10 blazer. It has a 1988 4.3 liter,262ci v6 engine.

*Plans*
These are far form my whole plans but i'm naming a few.

1.Chrome edelbrock air intake
2.Chrome edelbrock valve covers & new gaskets
3.Chrome timing cover (Have it and just waiting to install)
4.Edelbrock camshaft
5.Turbo off a 90's gmc typhoon
6.Electric radiator fan
7.Rebuild engine and paint block blue
8.Fully airbag truck and notch frame so it lays frame on 20's
9.Chrome grill and front bumper
10. Molded and painted to match rear rollpan (No tag indention)
11.Re-upholster seats using memory foam for padding and black fabric.
12.Blue or black fiberglass dashboard
13.Add rpm guage plus others (Tired of not having the guages modern vehicles have)
14.New black carpet
15.Paint whole truck white + extra gloss
16.Chrome 20's with mid/low profile tires
17.Paint brake drums and calipers blue
18.Edelbrock headers
19.Dual exaughst with no catalytic converter and magnaflow super 40 series mufflers (Exaughst will be hidden under the frame so it's out of sight)
20.Line-x the cargo compartment and underside of hood
21.Cadillac tail light conversion
22.Billet aluminum steering wheel and rear mirror
23.Shave door handles
24.Cowl hood

My goal is at least 500hp out of the 4.3 and at least 600-700lbs torque minumim. Truck will be driven daily while being worked on until i can buy a 1980's Chevy silverado to drive. After that truck will only be taken to shows and also drag-raced. Other than that and occasionally driving it to keep the battery from dieing i plan to keep it safely parked at home and covered at all times to prevent paint scratches and fading.

Intake or air cleaner? from that picture it looks like the air cleaner is new but the intake is still the stock piece.

The edelbrock piece is new. I haven't changed the intake manifold. I meant the "Air intake" was new. I'm planning to work on it some tommorow afternoon and hopefully get it put back together. Next up this week will probably be a new radiator.

Update.. I'm dropping it off at the machine shop tommorow after 1pm and picking it up Wednesday when i get off work. They'll be drilling out the broken bolt in my crankshaft for me then i'll put my timing cover/gaskets and other parts back on when i get it home and see if it cranks now that i fixed the timing. If it cranks my next part is a new radiator and hoses aswell as a new chrome filler neck for the top of the engine.
