Extending PSU Leads... Caps????
« on: January 18, 2007, 12:05:39 AM »

I am in the process of building a custom case, and my optical drives will be apart from the main casing. I will have to increase the PSU leads by 15 to 20 inches. What I need to know is, do I need to put capacitors on the leads? If so, what rating? I know enough of the electical theory to get by, but this is beyond my scope. In case its need to know info, each drive will have its own leads and I am thinking of putting a 40 or 60mm fans in the casing (one for each drive).
Any/all input will be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

Nope, all you need to do when you are extending the leads are to use the same (or at least close) gauge wire, and to properly secure your connections (solder, low loss crimp, twist and tape)
