Mobile Phone SIM Dummy?
« on: September 18, 2006, 09:22:57 PM »

I'm controlling my MP3 player(PC) with my mobile, using FMA.

I would like to get another cheap and used Sony Ericsson mobile (bluetooth if possible) to control it.
I have a t290 right now, and when I take the SIM card away I get a warning and I can do nothing.

Is there any way I can fool it?

I don't know much about phones, but I know unlocking will allow a phone to use a SIM from any provider. Is it possible that it'll let the phone's functions (minus making/receiving calls obviously) usable without a sim?

Nope, it doesn't work without a SIM, and I just need to be able to use it, just not for phone calls.

can you get a sim from someone who cancelled their service. i switched services yesterday and my old card does exactly what you want but it says "sim inactive".

I've got a whole box full of phones (20 +) comming my way very soon (old nextel phones from my wifes's work).  I'll look and see what they have and if you think an "inactive" card will work we'll se what we can do.  I'll let you know.
