Belkin Wireless G Router Issues
« on: January 30, 2006, 07:22:37 PM »

Hey everyone,
I just got a Belkin wireless G router and it seems to work fine usually. If left alone the internet, and basic wireless seems to disconnect randomly. If you unplug the power and plug it back in it seems to work. Any thoughts? Thanks.

for a start, what model router are you using?

there may be an option that makes it "standby" after a period if being idle

this is the model
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=201522&pcount=&Product_Id=136493

i checked the router config (going to the router Ip address) and it didn't say anything about standby. i checked the firmware, its up to date.

Also, when you are connected, what signal strength are you getting? Are there alot of competing wireless networks in the area? How are you using this router... as an access point, bridge?

there are actually a lot of competing wireless networks, we're in a dorm building and a few others have weak access point. Mines strong since its right across the room. Its mostly being used as an access point, my other roommate and i have wireless laptops and the third room mate is using a ground line.
It seems if the router goes inactive the internet shuts off, i checked all the setting again, it doesn't seem to have a standby mode enabled.
