How far can it go???
« on: August 01, 2001, 11:08:00 PM »

What's up people

I recently finished my cooling setup on my pc, and im ready to overclock.

I got:
Asus A7V Mobo
950 Amd Athlon
384 pc133 ram
30 gig 7200rpm wd HD
VooDoo 5500 Agp
SoundBlaster X-Gamer
Modem, Ethernet
Cdrom, Cdrw.

I just bought a hd cooler, the new dragon3 cpu fan, i have 2 exaust fans, an ehaust hole in the case side, video card cooling...

My question is what should i do to overclock my machine.. and how far should i drag it.. Thanks

what are you talking about?!?!  the dragon orb 3 is prolly the best heatsink they (Tt) has ever made.. It out preforms my gladiator.

The really piece of info we need is not what speed your chip is rather what stepping it is.

You have a nice set-up there!  The reson I bought a Duron instead of a Athlon is because...
1> price (me poor!)
2> overclocking potential!!!
How I OC'ed!  Well, AMD does not do too well with OC'ing the bus.  But you can unlock the processors and add your own multiplyer.
My Duron is set to 10.0X multi @ 105MhzFSB = 1050Mhz!  Not too bad!  I had to set the VCore to 1.70Volts.  I have noticed some things about the ASUS A7V however!  Not sure if this is true for all boards....
A> I sujest using the jumpers to set your VCore and not the BIOS.  I know it is a pain but I have spent countless hours testing this and even though it SHOULD make no difference, my system is more stable that way!
B>  You can set the jumper on the top of your MB to pull 3.65Volts instead of 3.5Volts.  This does heat up the MB but I am able to post at higher frequencies.
C>  Check your air flow!!!  You can only cool something (air cool) to the temp of the case!  In other words, It does no good to have a great heat sink on your CPU if the air it is using is 95*+   Create an intake that goes around your CPU HS and an exaust that continues in the same direction.  This will help like you would not believe!
Hope this helps!

add 3 intake fans to gain pressure in ur case... or 2/1... this will prevent dust from settling on ur beloved components
