There was model change in between.  I bet they are pop rivets.  You can drill them out but when you get half way through they will want to grab the bit and turn with it.  I used needle nose plyers or vise grips to hold the rivet in one place.  Afterwards you can tap threads in it. 6-32 for the common thumb screw.  I had to tap out the holes on the motherboard tray to take the thumb screws there.  I think its all metric and 6-32 is half way between metric sizes that is pretty common on cases.  You should have enough material there, it is 2mm think after all.

Looking at them closer I think I can just pop them out.  Then I am either going to drill out a hole for Thumb Screws, insert some plastic threads or just drill in some of the Sheet Metal screws, and file down the tip after insertion.

i'd just use sheet metal screws, they are self tapping :D
