Thermalright ALX-800
« on: June 24, 2004, 03:04:25 PM »

I recently purchased a Thermalright ALX-800 heatsink for my Athlon XP2600+, and I fitted it with a ThermalTake SmartFan 2.
 :o
Let me just tell you...holy smokes...that setup rawks.
I've got the cpu oc'd (via the FSB...aint' post-week 39 Athlons a beeatch) to 2.20GHz. After running Aquamark3 twice and playing Painkiller and UT2004 for 45minutes each, my cpu temps maxed out at a chilly 35C!
w00t!

I heartily and without fear of reproach recommend those two products used in tandem.

Just thought I'd share that.

good job. i've done the exact same thing with my 10 dollar cooler master Xdream hsf, but granted, it's a lot louder. when i turn the fan all the way down, it jumps up to around 45, still nothing to be concerned about

Yep
I actually only paid 15 bucks for my ALX-800 (plus 11 bucks for the fan) at FrozenCPU, so it wasn't exactly a huge investment.

I got my ALX-800 for $17 shipped. I put a tornado on there and now I'm getting sick of it. I need to find a new fan. Good to know that you're satisified with a great product.
