Do Athlon 64 and P4 HT heatsink fans blow air onto the CPU or funnel hot air away?

In traditional HSFs the fan always blows air onto the heatsink, never away.

A very small percentage of aftermarket coolers funnel the air away. The stock heatsinks and about 90% of the heatsinks you buy will blow air toward the CPU.

and ALL of the ones that suck air away perform better if the fan is flipped around to blow air into it lol

Not true. The Scythe Kamikaze performs better with the air flow blowing away from the heatsink. Also the Zalman's with the 90mm fan in them work better with the same setting.

I thought it was weird for a fan to suck air instead of blowing it.

Is it me or does that sound sick?
