Zalman fan replacement (too noisey)
« on: March 03, 2004, 11:10:21 PM »

hey, ive got a zalman HSF goin on, and for whatever reason, ive noticed the fan is a bit noisey. now i know i can put the resistor adapter in to slow down the fan, but i dont want to do that, i want to keep my performance.

is there any suggested fan to replace it with?

120mm fan is not preferred, the current is 92, and 80mm is just stupid. So essentially im asking is there a good 92mm fan out there that pumps about 28-35 cfm thats pretty silent?

And there's your 92mm Zalman on the bottom there.  38CFM @ 20dB(a) is damn good, and you're not going to find anything better at 92mm.  Just put the resistor in.

So looking at my chart, you find the Panaflo M1A, which is 48 CFM @ 30 DBa

A large reduction in noise for a small reduction in airflow.

good choice on the fan, i used one of those as an intake for my other PC and it is very good. Its adjustable too so you can pick the noise level right for you.
