Ball and Sleeve Fans, what is the difference?

What is the diference about a Ball and Sleeve Fan, the technical diferences, advantages and cons. ?

why a Sleeve Fan have a life expectancy smaller than a Ball Fan?

I thought it was the other way around....ball lower than sleeve...hmmm...

BUT...to answer your question.

Sleeve bearing fans are supposedly quieter than ball bearing fans.  

That's the only real difference I can think of.

Now if you compare the cfm vs. noise levels of sleeve and ball they are very close (ball 1db lower on a 39cfm but sleeve 1db lower on a 43cfm). I have all BB fans so can;t give any personal feedback. Check out this page, it has a GOOD breakdown on ball vs sleeve:
