Painting the fan grills
« on: August 24, 2001, 12:59:00 PM »

Anyone painted their fan grills? I was pondering over if I should paint those or not. If I leave them the silver color there would be a nice contrast to the black. On the other hand if I painted them they would blend in perfectly, kinda hiding the fans at a quick glance.

They are cheap nuff, maybe I'll paint one and see how I like it

you can get anodized fan grills in a lot of colors from here: http://www.caseetc.com/cgi-bin/caseetc   i was thinking that painting would mess up the mesh part :(

no no no, just the exaust "Chrome Grill" ones. Not the intake filters. I would bet painting those puppies would have cause some serious problems.

antacus, i have an extra chrome grill from panaflo and a sunon and neither seem very paintable, it isnt chipping off like tool chrome, so good luck you might have to acid etch them to paint them

actually, plan to paint my box and some laser cut fan grills over the holiday break (no time, gotta leave for college next week)... as well as doing a sweet paint job (and mods) on a new case i plan to get.... if i can afford it...

for me, i'm the kind of person, that'd lay out some newspaper, spraypaint, let dry, flip, spraypaint, let dry, detail a bit, dry, slap the bad boy on

and i'm gonna go look, but i coulda sworn somewhere i saw a painting guide where the guy had painted all his grills..... (starts to shuffle through the dozens of bookmarks and browser histroy)
