he came up w/ an easier way to do it...
enough w/ the slipring crap, open the sucka up, drill some holes, rig wires to the rear of the fans, and -bam- you've got some scweet lookin' fans

tomorrow i'm gonna try it on an old 80mm fan i have laying around (gathering dust)...

and about the hsf... that would look kewl, but i've got black label deltas on mine (i don't mind the noise), and they probably spin too fast...

You can take some clear tape and cut 3 small strips of paper and glue them onto your fan on one fin. 3 more strips on another... you get the point, then put a black light behind your fan... No risk...

Would there be any way to power the Leds in the fan from some out side source? I think it would be pretty cool if you could have your hard drive light be connected to your front case fan.  Imagine a big ol' bright blue(or red or yellow or white) circle glowing everytime your harddrive is in use. It would flicker like crazy while defragging! Or if you could hook it up like a sound meter on your sound card. Then everytime there is some gunfire in CS you'd have a big yellow circle flash coming from your case!

that would be sweet....you would have to get some 2 pin Y connectors....i'm sure you can find those at any good puter store.
