Mobo wont reconise CPU
« on: October 20, 2003, 04:58:05 PM »

My cousins asus p4s800reconizes his 2.66 chip as 1.3 he is running hyperthreading too. I suggest he just mannuely set the board to 2.66 useing the clock speed and whatnot but he dosnt want to break his new toy.

is it a 2.6C 800MHz FSB or a 533MHz P4 2.66?

If it's a 2.6C, on first boot, it should go into the bios and let you choose...  it'll give you 3 choices- 1300, 1730, and 2600.

I think all asus boards always boot up at the lowest possible FSB setting at first and then you have to choose the one you want to run at.  At least that has been my experience.

hmm, that's not good.  I'd say test the chip in another board.  or the board with another chip.

Or say hell with it- return both and get new ones.

I told him to write an email to asus and now I might have him write one to where he bought it from
