problems with rechargable batteries?? Help
« Reply #10 on: October 09, 2003, 08:12:38 AM »

Your batteries may be toast.  Try shorting the terminals with a piece of wire to completely discharge them, then trying charging again.  If that doesn't work get new batteries.  If you want rechargables, ensure you fully discharge the battery before charging.  And be sure to fully charge.  Some rechargable batteries develope memories.

I've noticed the new "alkaline rechargables" act like you're describing. They suck. Like 1 minute of LCD on time in my Kodak DC290.

if your batteries are nicd, you should discharge them the most you can get before charging them.  if they are nimh, you can charge them whenever, without discharging.  Just make sure you check your battery type and set the switch accordingly.  You can't charge two types at the same time, just make sure.

Don't ever short a batt, use a load, like a resistor.

Yes!  Would you have a battery in there being charged, or just turn the charger on and stick your probes to the terminals?
