Motherboard and power supply
« on: August 22, 2003, 05:20:43 PM »

I have a Raidmax Gold 500w PSU and a XFX Mach4 motherboard. The motherboard instruction manual states that a 300w power supply is required. Does this mean that the Raidmax is overkill and I can't use it or do I need a minimum of 300w. Am I going to fry my mobo?

I'm pretty certain that 300w is the minimum.  You just have 200w of overhead.

300 watts is the minimum.  There is really no chance of damage when it comes to power supplies as far as wattage is concerned.
