« on: July 28, 2003, 10:21:13 AM »

If i got a relay and the pins are marked "NO", "C", "NC"   what the heck does that mean, and which ones do i connect the power and the ground to.

NO means Normally open
NC is Normally closed
C is the contact.

when the switch is off, C and NC are together.  when you turn it on, C will connect to NO.  So you would have two modes here, like if you want to toggle between two lines.  Now if you're just using this as a normal on/off switch, just use the C and the NO pins.

NO=Normally Open
NC=Normally Closed
  C=Closed ?

Depends on how u want to use the relay.
If u use the NO contacts, when the relay activates, the contacts will close and u'll turn on the things that u connect on the other side.
If u use the NC contacts. when the relay activates, the contacts will open and u'll turn off the things that u connect on the other side.

C = Common (it's common to NC and NO, both use it)
