120mm fans thinner than 1"?
« on: July 08, 2003, 05:55:31 PM »

Do any 120mm fans that are about 20mm (.75") thick exist?  I need a couple of .75" thick fans for a future project, but the biggest fans I've seen in that thickness are 92mm fans, which would work if that's the only alternative.

And Google is not much help, the only thing I found was this site.  But I thought you guys might know something that google doesn't.  :D
Thanks.

Most 120MM fans are 25MM thick, which is just under 1 inch (.98 inch).

Some brands, and most of the higher powered models, are 38MM thick, which is just under 1 1/2 inches.

Yeah, you're right, I think those are the only thicknesses they make, at least after about an hour of searching.  :-?

Well, guess it's time to see if I can't mod a 1" fan down to 3/4", and manage not to break something....

update, sorta...
Hey, it worked (if anybody cares) !!

All it took was an old evercool fan and a lot of sanding, thankfully there was no need to mod the internal structure.  So it is possible, but it's a real PITA.  Oh well, one down, one to go...
