Yes it would work better than with diamond in place of silver, maybe they could start their diamond cooling from there.  I imagine that a diamond thermal paste would cost as much as a diamond anything else for that matter.

it wouldn't be too expensive. they have diamond saw blades with micronized synthetic diamond on them. they could use the same stuff

It would b a cool idea to have a diamond heatsink as its really good at conducting heat and doesn't conduct electricity so a direct die 'sink could be done. being really hard (the hardest natural substance known to man) it could be make really thin at the end of the fins. Industrial diamonds (used for diamond cutters) are really ugly being yellow and hazy and can now be made in a really big pressure "cooker" from anything containing carbon (including a dead persons ashes!!) Im sure some clever russians (they make a fair few man made diamonds) will find a way to make a mould so that a heatsink could be "grown" out of diamond. If this happened i would consider buying a diamond heatsink but only if it was fairly priced.

I agree, that was my originalpoint, that some companies got to do with diamond manufacturing are already considering it and all the technological advances means stuff becomes cheaper as it becomes more readilly available so it could be a really viable option for the future :D
