Hard Drive Heatsink?
« on: April 17, 2003, 03:51:11 PM »

Has anyone seen or made a heatsink for a hd?  the only one i could find was: http://www.dxf.net.au/xpcm/hddheatsinks.php

Can a heatsink + fan combo help cool hd's better than just fans?  Thanks!

They make more but they have really been proven useless unless you are using a 10,000rpm drive or higher. I have one in mine, and it is really just for looks.

I've got a 120 gb 7200 rpm drive in my comp that got very warm/hot during  large access times.  I got a dual fan setup for it off **** ($2 or something).  I have only one fan running now and even if I do a defrag it still runs cool.  I don't think there is anything 2 (or even 1) fans can't handle.
