Mouse Mod Question
« on: April 07, 2003, 10:37:01 PM »

Hello all, I'm making me a mouse mod, just putting a window in it and stuff.  Anyways, I was wondering:

I have a Super Bright LED Red 5000mcd
Forward Current: (continuous)20mA   (max)50mA
Forward Voltage: 2.4V
Reverse Voltage: 3V
Power Dissipation 100mA

I was wondering if I would need a resistor if I was to take power straight from the PS2 plug inside the mouse.  I would much appreciate the help, I'm kinda new, and trying to get into the electronic side of things.

You'll need a 130 ohm resistor.  For future reference, I point you towards Brutal's calculator.

Thank you viridius, for your quick reply, thanks for the link to the calc too.

EDIT:  I will have pictures soon, probably by the end of the week.
