I am running in to the same problem as you brutal, my fans are designed in a similar way, not to mention they are all metal as well so I have that as an added problem to hack at.

This is al nice, but the thing is that not every fan is suitable for thiz. Al LED haz a time to shut down. Every time you kill the power to the led, it burns like 3 miliseconds. When you drill a hole at the side of the fan, and make to pins, 1 for the + and 1 for the -, then you can make 2 coils, those will every second hit those pins, on a 3000 rpm fan, (3000:60) 50 times per second. That will make the led burn long enough to keep the whole round full. Smile

no kidding you have been thinking Smile  when i get around to doing this, im going to do the wiring on the low pressue side  to reduce the possibility of additional turbalence. how large would the coils be and what advantage would this have over having them wired and on all the time?

What do you mean with tha coils? I don't understand. But I do know, that when you wire um like I said, that the led burns continuasli (huh? dutch problem). Already tryed it out.
