Far too old for his interests

Well it doesn't seem like he really had a choice.  There wasn't much in the way of 3.5" bays in his case.

I see two... but even if he wanted to go with 5.25 adaptors, heatsink adaptors are still different-- and likely more expensive-- than those standard ones many of us have in our parts boxes, meant to mount 3.5" drives in the really old cases which only came with 5.25" bays.

Yea I was also wondering why he placed them in the 5.25 bays, maybe better airflow? he has plans for the empty 3.5" bay? and hey if you're gonna go ahead and put them there why not uses adapters that cool? he's killing 2 birds with 1 stone..... no offense to the aviary aficionados out there  LOL

Aye,I have got plans for the 3.5" bays and there's no harm in giving the HDD's a bit of extra cooling, the adaptors were quite cheap really, about £6 a pair, anyway,  I thought i'd have a break from sleeving and had a play around with the LED's for the res's,I tried the white ones first

They don't look that clear and have a slight blue hue, next up UV LED's

Personally I think the UV looks better, what do you think?,comments welcome Smile

There isn't any color (white, black = not colors IMO) anywhere else in the design, I would go with white myself. OTOH, UV can lead to interesting options if you ever dye the coolant

The coolant is Feser Clear UV Blue,i'll take a couple of night shots to give you a better idea, you can,t really tell in daylight.

Just a small update, these are the modular molex cables, there are two of these

Plastic stoppers and plugs removed

Heat shrink on all the ends

With the plug fitted

Sleeved and aditional heat shrink over the join

And the PSU end

I did the front audio/usb cables aswell

I'd also like to add, this build is now sponsored by MNPCTech,Bill has kindly donated some of his 120mm Machined Billet Computer Fan Grills

I'll be powdercoating these and using them to replace the basic wire grills I have now,I think they'll improve the overall appearance of the case.that's all i've got for now, untill next time.

Just a small update, the SATA cables that came with the board were a bit short so I got some 1m ones

So I sleeved these aswell

Heat shrink before

And after

And fitted

I also got the 120mm Machined Billet Computer Fan Grills from MNPCTech

I had planned on powdercoating the surround white, but when I seen them they look really nice so I decided to keep them as they are, here they are fitted

And with the fans running

I think these look much better than the wire grills

Also I got Mod of the Day over at HardOCP,which I didn't expect Smile, anyway that's all i've got for now,i'm hoping to get all the wiring finished at the weekend.
