Review: Logitech MX610 Laser Mouse

Quote
Logitech was kind enough to send over the MX610, which is what they called the "World's first smart mouse". By smart, they are referring to it's ability to communicate with the host computer. When your machine is off, the MX610 turns off as well, thus preserving power. It even alerts you when your battery is low and needs replacing. Let's see what other smart things it can do.

A local shop here in canada has these for $40 US on sale and my MX700 is on its last days. Should I go for it?

Not a bad deal, it's usually $60 US. $40 without a MIR is good in my book.

I bought this mouse a few days ago for $49 Canadian and it is great. For that price, it really was an amazing purchase. It took a little while for me to get used to it from my aging and failing MX700 which I had since the week it was first released.

Aside from having to get used to the new button positions, I'd say this mouse is in every way superior to the MX700, and the SetPoint software is worlds ahead of the old software (MouseWare) for older mice.

i have to say that i've loved logitech mice for a long time, but their latest few are just fantastic. I was looking for a new wireless gaming/design mouse and i could not be any happier at all than with the G7 that I just bought. It's pretty (i got the woven pattern from newegg), the wireless is flawless (no lag whatsoever, exactly like a usb mouse provided there are no substantial objects in the way), it's rechargable but doesn't have a required dock, instead having swapable battery packs, it's just fantastic. I was looking at the 610 while shopping though, and i ALMOST went for it. IT's comfortable, elegant, and if i'm not mistaken, uses the same wireless system as the G7. And as stated above, the software is infinately better this time around. I highly suggest any of these new logitech mice.
