Alrighty.  You might've seen this before and probably wondered how good it is.  I was kinda curious myself so I got me 4 of these for my case.  Here's a pic:

click pic for lik.  (link Big Grin)

Now.  First you will notice is that round thing.  I wonder what that round thing is, hmm... I wonder, hmm...  Well, it's actually it's a raised part.  it's quite nice.  Here's a crappy shot:

don't mind the AFK.  He's trying to push the monitor away from me so i won't be able to see if the webcam is getting a good shot.

Since it is steel, it's rather heavy.  very sturdy but still bendable.  I'm planning on putting two of these on the front panel of my case for the intake fans.  But for now, I did my long awaited fans on window project.  So I got me an acrylic sheet, cut two holes using a Dremel Multipurpose cutter bit (that thing goes through the acrylic like buttah.  I'm getting vaclempt), and tried on two L1A Panaflos for some side panel intakes.  But first, I tried putting on the grill/mesh on the fan while the fan's running.  Now the L1A is known for it's noisy characteristics (if you know, then I'm just being sarcastic).  I held the fan pointing down so I can feel the air blowing on my knees.  I then placed the grill/mesh at the back side of the fan.  Two things.  One, it decreased the airflow at a noticable rate.  Like I said, i can feel the air on my knees.  no grill, full air.  grill on, air got lighter.  Second, the grill on the fan kinda created a humming noise.  I tried on both sides and the humming got weak when it was on the front side of the fan.  I'm thinking on the back, the fan blades are closer to the grill so it might add sound.  But since the window will be between the fan and the grill, the humming got weaker.  So the more you put it near the fan, the humming got more noticable.  (BTW, those aluminum mesh grills also decrease the airflow, but does not create additional noise).
Just to be sure, I tried it using an H1A fan and a TT fan to see if it's just the L1A.  apparently, the humming got louder. Boo!

Ok.  another crappy pic:

here you can see the two grills installed.  Looks nice doesn't it?  Well, the humming was not that clear anymore since the grill was farther to the fan due to the window.  Plus, my HD whines louder so yay.  Hope you like it! Big Grin

Oh, just in case you want to know, the two L1A side fans helped lower my cholesterol.  Well, not really.  i lowered my temps for about 4-5 degrees.  Not much of a good thing eh?  But then the fans didn't add noise, plus it looks great.

**EDIT**

Added more action pics of these babies.  Front panel madness!!

Nice. I've seen pics of people doing their own with car speaker grills. Looks the same. Didn't know they started selling these already done.

The one side of my case has vent holes in it (other is covered by window) and I use air conditioner filters halves in it. I use the black stuff from an AC pad and its worked NICE.

Also makes it look cool since you can see the black through the vents.

I think it would actually look better without that raised bit, but thats just my opinion.

What is an AFK?

AFK: away from key board Smile

A good way to keep the dust out of your case is to make it so you have + presure
example: 5 80mm intake, 2 80mm exaust

this is how my case is setup, it is also based on the fact that heat rises, 2 80mm exaust out top Smile
